Bells at Uppingham

The Eight Bells of St Peter & St Paul

High in the tower of St Peter & St Paul, Uppingham, hangs the fine ring of eight bells, much loved by ringers and the wider community alike.  The majority were cast in the early 1770s by Pack & Chapman of London, with later additions by Robert Taylor of St Neots (1804) and John Taylor & Co of Loughborough (1895).  Together, they form a harmonious peal, rung in the traditional English full-circle style.

The bells are sounded every Sunday, at weddings, and on special occasions, continuing a centuries-old tradition that calls the town to worship and celebration.

Practices are held on Thursday from 7.30 to 9pm by the Uppingham Bellringers, who welcome learners and visiting ringers to keep this living heritage alive.
