Serving God through love in action in Uppingham

Uppingham Parish Church

The parish church of St Peter & St Paul stands as a sign of God's presence in the heart of Uppingham, just off the Market Square of the historic Market Town of Uppingham. The church of St Peter has a central location in the village of Belton in Rutland.

Uppingham church offers a wide range of Sunday and weekday services within the varying Anglican tradition. Open throughout the week for services, concerts, tourism, educational visits and private prayer, we offer a quiet oasis of peace for prayer both public and private in the heart of this historic town.

We are open for you, whether you wish to explore our history or seek a time of quiet contemplation.

Our beautiful church, St Peter and St Paul's

In Uppingham, our beautiful church has served this community through prayer for centuries. It continues to be a place of worship, where you can drop in at anytime for some peace and tranquillity. Many Uppingham people are baptised in the Parish Church, many are married there, and many end their days with a funeral service. It is truly a church that belongs to the community.

Looking through the lit up glass front northern doors to the churchThe church ministry team and members of the congregation are working in Uppingham supporting the town's two primary schools and the Community College, all of whom hold their Carol Services in the church. At Christmas the church is packed out with large congregations. St Peter and St Paul's is a permanent focus for visitors to the town and a large number leave messages of appreciation in the Visitors' Book.

We want to continue to offer all this and more but the cost of its upkeep falls exclusively on the people and the church congregation of Uppingham.

However, it costs £300 a day to keep the church open.

We have held giving days in September of each year recently and many townspeople have been fantastic in supporting us financially. Some have taken out standing orders to help, and by gift-aiding all donations we are able to claim money back from the tax man.

We can only say thank you and ask that people continue to support us in the future! It is a church that belongs to the community, and only the community can sustain it for the future. There are Standing Order forms available at the back of church, or Roy Farmer (821841) would always be pleased to provide one.
